Share the project location, approximate scope, and any early ideas. PHC reviews the project and provides a free estimate.

We discuss layout, dimensions, privacy, access, materials, features, appearance, maintenance, budget, property lines, zoning, and likely permit requirements. PHC can recommend; you make the final selections.

Once the scope, design, material approach, estimate, and permit responsibilities are agreed, the required deposit confirms the project.

Before digging or permit-required work, we confirm applicable zoning, utility-locate, permit, and approval requirements. The project agreement records who submits and pays for each required permit.
City of Saskatoon deck guidance
PHC schedules the work, confirms materials, prepares the site, and completes construction while communicating relevant progress or changes. Applicable City inspections are coordinated for permit-required decks.

We complete a final walkthrough, address agreed outstanding items, leave the work area ready for use, and close the project with you.

The City of Saskatoon currently states that a building permit is required for a deck that meets any of the following conditions:
The City states that ordinary residential fence installation does not require a building permit, but zoning requirements still apply. Current listed maximum heights are 1.0 metre in required front yards and 2.0 metres in side and rear yards. On corner lots, fences and vegetation higher than 1.0 metre cannot be within the corner visibility triangle measured 6.0 metres in each direction from the street corner. Property lines must be accurately located, and Sask 1st Call should be contacted at least 48 hours before digging. Pool fences require consultation with Building Standards.
Read the City of Saskatoon Residential Fences pageThe project agreement confirms whether PHC or the homeowner submits and pays for each required permit. The City determines which inspection stages apply to permit-required residential work. If an inspector identifies a correction within PHC’s scope, PHC addresses it and coordinates the required follow-up. Approvals are not guaranteed.
Saskatoon’s thresholds and zoning rules are not assumed to apply in surrounding communities. Requirements are confirmed with the municipality or authority having jurisdiction for that project.
